Pep Guardiola has made a decision on his future at Man City

|

Pep Guardiola has an uncertain future at Manchester City as his contract is up at the end of the season and he didn’t appear close to putting pen to paper on an extension, but Sport (h/t Sport Witness) say the 51-year-old has made a decision on his future.

Guardiola has long stated that he is happy at the Etihad Stadium and wasn’t looking to leave despite his contract running down, so it’s not a shock to hear that he’s going to stay beyond 2023. It is good news for fans that Pep is ‘one step closer’ to extending his deal, however.

Reports from Spain suggested Guardiola spoke with City directors Txiki Begiristain and Ferran Soriano during the World Cup break to get the ball rolling on an extension while discussing future plans for the club.

Pep took charge of City in 2016 and has presided over 374 matches, boasting 276 wins and 43 draws. The Spanish coach has led the Sky Blues to four Premier League titles, four League Cups and one FA Cup, so his stint could hardly have be more successful.

City are currently second in the league and five points adrift of leaders Arsenal after 14 games.
