There wasn`t much negative about our win at the weekend, though I am a bit gutted that Fernandinho had to come off injured.
He`s been ruled out for the game against Arsenal, too, according to City`s website and I`m curious as to see who Pep picks to replace him in the team.
Bernardo Silva was the man to come on in the final but we were already well in control by that point, so I don`t see the boss taking that risk from the off on Thursday.
From the options on the bench it struck me that only young Phil Foden could have come in to play centrally, something again I think Pep won`t risk doing against the Gunners.
I`m going to suggest perhaps we do something different and play 3-5-2, then, thus removing the need for a Fernandinho type player altogether.
In my mind, we go with Vincent, Otamendi and Stones as our centre-halves and Kyle and Danilo as the wing backs. Then, ahead of them, a midfield trio of KDB, David and Gundogan with Ilkay as the deeper lying midfielder.
The German isn`t as defensively astute as the Brazilian, of course, but he wouldn`t need to be in this system and, with the pressure largely off in a game that is bound to have a toxic home atmosphere, I think it`s a good time to try it out.
It might not work, but it`s not as if we`ve never employed such a game-plan before and, after the weekend, I think Arsenal are there to be beaten again because they look in utter disarray.
And, if it does pay off, I think it only makes us that bit more formidable with another tactical string to our bow with some tougher games not too far away.
That`s my suggestion, but what would you do? Play Bernardo Silva, play Phil Foden or change the system completely?
