Manchester City took a big step closer to defending the Premier League title with a 1-0 win over Chelsea on Saturday, courtesy of a brilliant goal from Kevin De Bruyne who was outstanding all afternoon – no player created more chances, had more successful dribbles, produced more crosses or had more shots on target.

For his winning goal, the 30-year-old picked up the ball from inside Chelsea’s half, rode a challenge from N’Golo Kante and found the far corner with a curled effort from distance. De Bryne was given a player rating of 8/10 by Manchester Evening News and fans on social media lauded his efforts.

Against the Blues, De Bruyne played for 83 minutes, had 62 touches, completed 78.1% of his passes, created two chances, had four shots with 75% hitting the target, whipped in seven crosses, made two tackles, had one clearance, gave away one foul and had four successful dribbles.

The Belgian international has made 24 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring seven goals with three assists. De Bruyne has been outstanding under Pep Guardiola who says he still has more to offer. Next up for Man City is a trip to face Southampton on Saturday.
