Rumours are beginning to rumble around the possible summer signing of Portsmouth’s 6 foot 7 inch striker, Peter Crouch.

Manchester City legend Peter Barnes spoke about the possible move during this weeks ‘City Debate Show’ on Channel M, and in his opinion the deal is virtually done.

Crouch, (28) left Liverpool for Portsmouth in July 2008 in a deal estimated to be in the region of £11 million, with £9m being paid up front, however the Pompey owner, Alexandre Gaydamak is open to any offers for the Macclesfield born forward having put the south coast club up for sale.

Others in the hunt are thought to be Newcastle United, so long as they can avoid relegation and stay in the top flight.
