On our last poll we asked fans the question…

Should City offer Elano a contract extension?

Here is the result:

Yes (86%)
No (14%)

The gaffer spoke on the very subject the other day and ruled out the likelihood of a renegotiated contract after telling the Brazilian that there are greater priorities at Eastlands.

It is well publicised that both Elano and the gaffer have a difficult relationship after he openly criticising the Welshman earlier this season over his failure to hand him a regular place.

‘Elano has two more years left to run on his contract, so it isn’t really a priority at the moment,’said Hughes.

‘There are a number of other players with less time on their contract, so they are the ones we will have to look at. Elano is not one of those players that we need to look at and discuss renegotiate terms with but I have certainly been pleased with him of late and the positive impact that he has had on the team.’

Of course Sparky could always ignore Elano and allow him to leave on a Bosman. Now wouldn’t that be fine and dandy – NOT!

Our new poll question asks…

First City player to score against Blackburn will be?
