Poor first half, better second half – Man City midfielder had mixed performance [Opinion]

Manchester City came from 2-0 down to win 4-2 against Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday and Rodri delivered a mixed performance. The 26-year-old was somewhat culpable for both of Spurs’ goals in the first-half but turned things around after the restart and contributed to the Sky Blues coming out on top.

Rodri took a bad touch from a risky Ederson pass which led to Dejan Kulusevski scoring. And he was weak in the challenge on Harry Kane which led to a cross coming in and being parried to Emerson Royal who headed home from close range.

Bad the Spaniard international had more touches (119), more passes (104), the second-best completion ratio (93.3%), most accurate long balls (8/8), second-most tackles (3), joint-most blocked shots (1) and third-most chances created (2).

Rodri hand a hand in two goals on the night though. He clipped a through ball over the top that wasn’t dealt with and Julian Alvarez side-footed home. The 26-year-old also fed Riyad Mahrez who scored after cutting in from the right flank, so he’ll be happy with his second-half efforts.

City face Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday, January 22 and Rodri will hope to shine for the full 90 minutes next time.
