With some playing 33 Premier League games in the 2016/17 season, a number of players are still in the chase to take this year’s assist King crown recognition.
In contention for this year’s recognition for being the top assister in the Premier League are Kevin de Bruyne, Christian Eriksen, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Alexis Sanchez, Wilfried Zaha, Ross Barkley and Matt Phillips.
Given the games left you would think it unlikely Cesc Fabregas, Adam Lallana, Pedro and those below them on seven assists or fewer will now dent the top of the table, but it’s football and stranger things have happened.
Largely though there are enough games left for the table below to change so we’ll just have to see what happens and at this stage with so few assists between the top ten players, it would take a brave man at this stage to try and call an eventual winner even if De Bruyne does have the narrow advantage.
