Bon weekend, Blues. So, the team are in Portsmouth for yet another important fixture that will further define where we are going to end up in May. Whatever the apparant shambles in the boardroom and the questionable tactics on the pitch, we are stuck with what we have for now and we’ve got to hold out hoping for a consistent improvement in results. Our defence and Academy graduates mean we still have the makings of a potentially solid Premiership team, but that will count for nothing if the whole squad do not pull together sharpish. They have been together as a unit for long enough now.
More than half of our MCFC Vital visitors reckon we will flirt with relegation or be relegated. A quarter of them predict it’s time to visit Ipswich again next season.
These uninspiring sentiments are reflected across the worldwideweb. There is no doubt that the majority of Blues are increasingly ill at ease with our situation.
In my opinion, we must look to our senior players and in particular, ‘Johnny Three Lion’s’ signings to once and for all step up to the mark and prove those of us wrong who simply do not rate them. Same goes for the whole backroom staff. Many of us question our senior pro’s desire to play through knocks and keep at it for the cause. Hamman, Dabo, Sinclair, Beasley, Trabelsi and latterly Claudio Strainer give the impression they are always calling for our overworked physio’s TCP and plasters should they trip up or bump into someone.
If these comments aren’t motivation enough for any of our superstars reading this article via the hotel wi-fi facility, then what about Andy ‘Andrew’ Cole generally benchwarming for the other side then? Very well looked after at the MCFC Crocks Rehabilitation Centre, he rapidly waved two fingers in our general direction as soon as he was fit and headed south. How I’d like to see him clattered today and City come away with a win!
A final comment for today’s game, is for the MCFC and England Under 21 manager. Please stop getting involved in widely reported pre-match ‘arslikhan’ with the opposition manager. It hardly sets the scene or raises the stakes for fixtures that are growing with importance with each result. And while, I’m at it, give Abdoun and Sturridge a proper run out today, please.
In other news, Friday’s France Football confirmed that long time SP target Olivier Thomert has signed with Rennes. It’s stated that a deal with Manchester City encountered ‘an obstacle.’ Whether or not the alledgedly 17th most profitable club in the world couldn’t come up with the money to buy him, we’ll never know.
Next up, Daniel Van Buyten. The incoming coach at Bayern Munich is said to be making it a priority to tie the man mountain centre half down to a long term deal. Would DVB fancy a return to the Premiership? It’s difficult to take that his impressive loan form for City never materialised into what would have been back then a cut-price permanent deal. By all accounts he has been formidable for Bayern and it would surely take big money to bring him back to Eastlands.
