‘Quality’ – Journalists praise Man City player for ‘smart’ performance v Watford

|

Gabriel Jesus was given a rare start by Pep Guardiola and scored four goals as Manchester City beat Watford 5-1 on Saturday afternoon. The 25-year-old has only bagged three goals in the Premier League all season but more than doubled his tally in 90 minutes of football.

Jesus’ first goal was a close range tap-in after Oleksandr Zinchenko picked him out with a low cross. His second goal was a close-range header from a Kevin De Bruyne cross. The Brazilian international’s third goal was from the spot after being fouled in the area.

And his fourth goal was a fine finish in the area after a De Bruyne cutback. Jesus even assisted Rodri’s goal, so he had a hand in everything on the day. Jamie Spencer of 90min gave the 25-year-old a player rating of 10/10 and hailed his goal output.

Stuart Brennan of the Manchester Evening News gave Jesus a player rating of 9/10 and said his performance reminded people about his ‘quality’. Edward Burnett of City Xtra gave him a player rating of 10/10 and called his finishing ‘smart’.

The Brazilian has made 35 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring 11 goals with 12 assists.
