Report: Club ‘monitoring’ Man City’s ‘vulnerable’ player, Guardiola sees 25 y/o as ‘better fit’

Raheem Sterling is no longer guaranteed a starting place at Manchester City and Football Insider say he’s feeling ‘vulnerable’ under Pep Guardiola who sees the 25-year-old Jack Grealish as a ‘better fit’ at the Etihad Stadium.

Real Madrid are ‘monitoring’ Sterling’s situation, but El Gol Digital believe they’ll have competition from fierce rivals Atletico Madrid, so there may be a bidding war this summer.

Sterling has made 44 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring 13 goals with 11 assists. He was a regular under Guardiola for most of the campaign but has been left out of Champions League matches of late while being in and out of their Premier League starting eleven in recent weeks too.

The England international has amassed only 22 minutes of football from City’s last four Champions League games and has started only two of their previous six league outings.

Sterling’s contract talks with City fell through after he changed his representation, so Real and Atleti must feel they have an opportunity to capitalise. Whether the 26-year-old is willing to leave City remains to be seen, but he won’t be happy sitting on the sidelines.
