Manchester City legend Neil Young is terminally ill. In response to calls from friends and supporters, MCFC will pay tribute to our club’s former centre forward at Leicester…

City have drawn The Foxes away in the FA Cup on Sunday 9th January.

A scorer of many important goals for The Blues, it was his legendary strike that won the FA Cup for City against Leicester in 1969.

The club are to dedicate this season’s FA Cup visit to ‘Nelly’ and have produced red and black scarves, the colour of The Citizens kit in that final for City fans to wear next week.

The Manchester City Supporters Club has launched an appeal and explain:

‘Following the sad news that former blues legend has been diaganosed with cancer the Supporters Club has decided to try and support Neil and his family at this difficult time.

Fans are invited to make a donation to the Neil Young Appeal on collecting the scarves. All money raised will be split 50 50 between Neil Young and the Cancer Unit at Wythenshawe Hospital where Neil is receiving treatment. May we suggest a minimum donation of £5-00 for each scarf.’
