Vital Manchester City received the following article from Sindbad.

Football refereeing expert and former world Cup referee, Graham Poll has commented on claims Ferguson has ‘influence’ over refereeing decisions, particularly at Old Trafford. Indeed Poll has possibly gone as close as any man in his position could go, short of confirming it from personal experience.

These are the relevant comments as reported by the Mail:

‘In my after dinner speech I often tell how I got the ‘hairdryer’ from Alex Ferguson on one of my first visits to Old Trafford for not knowing one of the rules of football; at the home of Manchester United you play until they win!’

‘For as long as I can remember fans have had the suspicion that Ferguson has an influence over referees decisions and appointments and with Mike Riley – one of ‘Fergies favourites’ – having taking over as the head of refereeing for the PGMOL, they will be looking even closer at the referees at the home of the Champions.’
