Born in Wigan and a self-confessed League One home team supporter Tierney (37) took charge of his first Premier League game on 30 August 2014 – Swansea v West Brom.
Having impressed, Paul was soon promoted to the FIFA list of Referees on New Year’s Day, 2018.

Taking his fair share officiating in the lower leagues Paul has taken charge of 26 domestic matches.
