Report: Agent could thwart Man City’s bid to sign £135m man with 70 goals in 69 games

Manchester City still hope to sign Erling Haaland as Sergio Aguero’s replacement next year, but Bild (h/t Sport Witness) say Mino Raiola’s involvement could be a stumbling block in negotiations.

The 21-year-old’s release clause drops to €75m (£63.6m) in 2022, but City are worried that Raiola pushing for big money could throw a spanner in the works. Haaland’s representative is known for extracting as much money as possible from every deal, so agent fees could drive up the price.

Haaland joined Dortmund on a four-year deal from RB Salzburg and has gone on to make 69 appearances in all competitions, scoring 70 goals with 19 assists. The Norwegian international, who boasts 12 goals in 15 games for his country, is one of the best strikers on the market, but City won’t be the only side keen.

Haaland’s market value is £135m, so Dortmund would be selling themselves short if he leaves for half that price at the end of the season. There has been suggestions the 21-year-old could stay at the Signal Iduna Park beyond 2022 too, so time will tell how this story ends.
