Report: Barcelona eyeing ‘impossible deal’ for Man City midfielder

|

Kevin De Bruyne has been in fantastic form at Manchester City this season and remains an indispensable player under Pep Guardiola, so there’s little chance he’d ever be granted a move away from the Etihad Stadium.

Despite this, Ferran Martínez of Mundo Deportivo says Barcelona are trying to get an ‘impossible deal’ over the line for the Belgian international, though they’d still prefer Bernardo Silva.

De Bruyne joined City from Vfl Wolfsburg in 2015 and has gone on to make 303 appearances in all competitions, scoring 82 goals with 119 assists. The 30-year-old, who boasts 23 goals and 45 assists in 88 games for Belgium, is enjoying one of his best ever seasons at club level, so it’s easy to see why Barca are interested.

De Bruyne has made 41 appearances in all competitions this campaign, scoring 15 goals with 12 assists. The Belgian has scored or created a goal in six of his last eight Premier League appearances, so he’s priceless to City. And with three years remaining on his deal, City need not worry about his contract.

De Bruyne would undoutedbly improve Barca’s midfield, but they stand no chance of luring him away from Manchester.
