Report: Barcelona make decision on signing £59.9m Man City player in January

|

It’s no secret that Barcelona are interested in signing Ferran Torres after his impressive start to life at Manchester City. It’s also no secret that the 21-year-old is open to a move to the Camp Nou. But Manchester Evening News say Barca have made a decision regarding a January transfer that will result in Torres spending the remainder of the season at the Etihad.

The Catalans aren’t going to make a move for the Spanish international when the winter transfer window opens, likely because they don’t have lucrative resources to procure his signature and won’t have much success trying to sign the player midway through the season. City would only have a month to land a replacement, so Torres’ departure isn’t going to happen next month.

The £59.9m-rated forward joined City on a five-year deal from Valencia and has gone on to make 43 appearances in all competitions, scoring 16 goals with four assists. Torres has impressed in his 18 months at the Etihad but isn’t ruling out the idea of leaving. It doesn’t look likely he’ll move on in January but next summer might be possible if his asking price is matched.
