Report: Club consider £81m-rated Man City player following Sergio Aguero injury

|

Barcelona are lamenting the loss of Sergio Aguero who’s been ruled out for up to three months with a heart rhythm rate disorder and Deportes COPE (h/t Sport Witness) say another Manchester City player may be on their radar – Raheem Sterling.

The 26-year-old has an uncertain future at the Etihad Stadium as he’s not commanding a regular starting place under Pep Guardiola and admitted being unhappy with the lack of opportunities at times last season. Sterling even delayed contract talks months ago so things are up in the air.

Deportes COPE believe Barcelona are willing to offer him an escape route and could make a move in January. Whether Man City would allow the England international to leave midway through the season remains to be seen, however, as it would force them to locate a replacement in the space of a month.

Sterling has made 14 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring one goal with two assists. He’s hardly set the place on fire but still isn’t likely to be sold in January. History has shown that City don’t make big signings or sanction big sales midway through a campaign, so Barca might have to wait until the summer if they want to land the £81m-rated man.
