Report: Club make decision whether to sign Guardiola’s £20m signing or Man City’s 116-goal man

Ferran Torres and Raheem Sterling are transfer targets for Barcelona in January, says Mundo Deportivo (h/t Sport Witness). The Catalans giants recently appointed Xavi as their new manager and want to spend in the winter transfer window to turn things around in La Liga.

Barcelona are currently ninth in the table with 17 points from 12 games and are without a win in their last four. Xavi’s side have scored 19 goals in the league, which puts them joint-fifth in the scoring charts, but the biggest problem is the lack of goals from the supporting cast.

Memphis Depay is Barca’s top scorer with six goals in 12 games, but the second-highest player only has three to their name – Ansu Fati. As a result, Mundo Deportivo say a new forward is on the agenda and Torres, Sterling and Dani Olmo are on their shortlist.

The £20m signing Torres would be a hard player to lure away from City as he’s a regular in the starting eleven when fit and doesn’t appear to be unhappy. Sterling is the one with an uncertain future. The 116-goal man turned down contract talks and admitted publicly that he was unhappy with last season’s lack of playing time, so Barca might have better luck trying to sign him.
