Report: Defender closing in on Man City exit, loan move could be confirmed Tuesday

Taylor Harwood-Bellis has spent the season on loan at RSC Anderlecht, but the 19-year-old is cutting his stay short after losing his starting place under Vincent Kompany.

John Percy of the Telegraph says Stoke City are now closing in on a move for Harwood-Bellis and could confirm the deal on Tuesday when his medical has been completed.

The England U21 international has risen through the youth ranks to the fringes of Manchester City’s first-team, making 21 appearances for the U18s, 10 appearances for the U19s, 40 appearances for the U23s and eight appearances at senior level.

But with Ruben Dias, John Stones, Aymeric Laporte and Nathan Ake ahead of him in the pecking order, Harwood-Bellis stands little chance of playing under Pep Guardiola.

He impressed out on loan at Blackburn Rovers last season and was sent to a bigger club over the summer to continue his development at a higher level.

The 19-year-old made 19 appearances for Anderlecht but fell out of favour in mid-Nvoember, amassing only 12 minutes of playing time from their last seven league games.

Harwood-Bellis’ best form came in the Championship, so Man City will hope a move to Stoke can see him replicate his Blackburn stint.
