Report: Man City battle Tottenham for £45m man who rejected contract extension

|

Manchester City were left with Gabriel Jesus, Ferran Torres and Raheem Sterling to call upon in attack after Sergio Aguero was released over the summer, but Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t Sport Witness) believe they’re on the hunt for another centre-forward – Dusan Vlahovic.

The 21-year-old has an uncertain future at Fiorentina after rejecting a contract extension and the report hints that a January exit could be on the cards. City aren’t the only side keen on Vlahovic, however, with Tottenham Hotspur and Juventus showing interest, so it remains to be seen where he’ll end up.

Vlahovic joined the Violas on a five-year deal from Partizan in 2018 and has gone on to make 97 appearances in all competitions, scoring 39 goals with five assists. The Serbian international has 10 goals and one assist in 13 games this season, so it’s easy to see why City and others would be keen.

Vlahovic has a market value for £45m and wage demands of €2.5m-a-year/€48k-per-week (£2.1m-a-year/£40k-per-week), so he is affordable. It just depends whether City regard the 21-year-old as a better acquisition than Erling Haaland and whether they can beat out the competition to bring him to Manchester.
