Report: Man City could sign £127m-rated striker with 472 goals instead of Erling Haaland

Manchester City have moved on from Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane and are positioning themselves to sign Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland, but Bild (h/t Sport Witness) say Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski is also on their radar.

The 33-year-old’s deal at the Allianz Arena is up in 2023 and there’s a possibility he could leave as he’s in the eve of his career. Agent Pini Zahavi believes City are a potential destination for his client, who’s bagged 72 goals for the Poland national team, but they aren’t the only suitors.

Paris Saint-Germain have also been linked as Kylian Mbappe is a target for Real Madrid and admitted wanting out over the summer. Lewandowski has scored 472 career goals in 640 games, 307 of which have come in Bayern colours. He’s won nine Bundesliga titles, four German Cups and one Champions League, thus achieving all he can in the country.

Lewandowski would improve City’s attack, but he wouldn’t be a long-term option to replacing Sergio Aguero as they’re the same age, so time will tell if Pep Guardiola genuinely pursues the £127m-rated Pole rather than focusing on Haaland.
