Report: Man City interested in 6ft 2in man with more interceptions than Cancelo and Rodri

|

Manchester City aren’t short of centre-backs with Ruben Dias, Aymeric Laporte, John Stones and Nathan Ake at their disposal, but Fantacalcio say they’re after another defender – Gleison Bremer.

The 24-year-old joined Torino on a five-year deal from Clube Atletico Miniero in 2018 and has gone on to make 83 appearances in all competitions, scoring 11 goals with four assists.

Bremer has two years left on his deal at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino and has attracted interest from Manchester United, Inter Milan and Juventus after impressing in Serie A, so City would have stiff competition for his signature.

The 6ft 2in Brazilian has made six Serie A appearances this season, winning 23 aerial duels, blocking eight shots/passes/crosses, completing 81.9% of his 277 passes, making 21 clearances and averaging a tackle (9) or interception (24) every 16 minutes. He’s made more interceptions than Joao Cancelo (16) and Rodri (4), so he would improve the team.

City don’t need another centre-back with four in the first-team, so it remains to be seen if they’ll make a move for Bremer. Should the Premier League defending champions offload a defender, maybe they’ll look at bringing a replacement. There’s no indication an existing player is on the way out just yet, however.
