Report: Man City ‘interested’ in highly-rated Stoke City youngster compared to Harry Kane

|

Manchester City are on the hunt for a striker to replace Sergio Aguero and failed in their pursuit of Harry Kane over the summer, but the Daily Mail say the Premier League defending champions are ‘interested’ in a player that’s drawing comparisons to the Tottenham Hotspur striker – Emre Tezgel.

The 16-year-old plays for Stoke City and has been promoted from the academy to the U18s. Tezgel has made 27 appearances for the youth side, scoring 14 goals with five assists, so he’s a prolific centre-forward. He’s also bagged four goals in three games for England U17s too.

City need a tried and tested striker who can make an instant impact and have positioned themselves to sign Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund, but Tezgel does look like one for the future.

The teenager has an impressive scoring record at youth level and has attracted interest from Chelsea and Manchester United, so time will tell where he ends up should he leave Stoke.

The Potters’ academy director Gareth Owen rates him highly and says he’s similar to Kane in regard to his hold-up play, movement and ruthless finishing, so will City get their long-term equivalent after all?
