Report: Man City make decision on future of £19.4m man earning £46k-per-week

Ferran Torres has enjoyed a bright start to life at Manchester City and Harry Pratt of the Daily Star says he’ll be rewarded for his form with an improved contract.

The 21-year-old, who joined City for €23m (£19.4m) in 2020, currently takes home £46k-per-week/£2.4m-a-year but could earn £100k-per-week/£5.2m-a-year if he puts pen to paper on an extension.

Torres has made 43 appearances in all competitions for the Sky Blues, scoring 16 goals with four assists. The Spanish international, who boasts 12 goals in 22 games for his country, has picked up where he left off this season too with four PL games, two goals, one assist, so that’s why he’s getting rewarded.

City failed to sign Harry Kane as Sergio Aguero’s replacement over the summer, so Pep Guardiola turned to Torres to be a makeshift striker. He hasn’t been let down yet, so the 21-year-old is worth his weight in gold.

Although Torres still has four years remaining on his deal, his wages are disproportionately low compared to his teammates, so the Premier League defending champions are looking to rectify the situation by paying him in line with his performances and importance to the team.
