Report: Man City man had head turned in 2021 and texted Barcelona officials for a transfer

Despite Bernardo Silva being convinced to stay at Manchester City and impressing over the course of the campaign, Mundo Deportivo say the 27-year-old offered himself out to Barcelona and texted club officials to push a move in late-2021.

Pep Guardiola praised Silva’s attitude this season, as he wanted out of City last summer but didn’t let it affect his performances, but it appears the Portuguese international had his head turned and went behind the club’s back to force a move away from the Etihad Stadium.

Mundo Deportivo’s report states that Barca officials travelled to Manchester to discuss Ferran Torres and Silva came into contact with them, suggesting to be considered for a transfer. The Catalans giants assumed he was joking but then received a message on their phone asking if they would sign him.

The 27-year-old has dreams of playing for Barca and did make his intentions of joining them clear to City last summer, so it wouln’t be a major shock if elements of this story was true. But given how professional Silva has been on the pitch, it’s hard to believe he would tap up a move without letting City know.
