Report: Man City player open to leaving in Jan, clubs are £12.8m apart in negotiations

Ferran Torres’ future at Manchester City is up in the air amid interest from Barcelona. The 21-year-old has only been at the Etihad Stadium since August 2020 but has made such an impression that Barca have been playing attention. AS (h/t Sport Witness) say Torres is open to a move in January too.

The Catalan giants aren’t short of wide-forwards with Ez Abde, Ousmane Dembele, Ansu Fati, Philippe Coutinho and Yusuf Demir at their disposal, but injuries have struck the attack this season which leaves Xavi unable to name his best starting XI – Memphis Depay, Martin Brathwaite and Sergio Aguero are currently sidelined.

Torres could fill the void, having performed well as a makeshift centre-forward, but AS say City and Barca can’t agree on the price. The two sides are €15m (£12.8m) apart on their valuations of the Spanish international, so it remains to be seen if a deal will get over the line.

Despite Barca dropping out of the Champions League and being in over £1bn worth of debt, Torres still isn’t put off joining them. But unless they match his asking price next month, City won’t budge. Pep Guardiola might not want to lose an important player mid-season either, so time will tell if anything happens in January.
