Report: Man City player ‘told entourage’ he wants Barcelona move, but club ‘don’t plan’ to sell

Manchester City might have a problem with Ferran Torres. The 21-year-old’s had an impressive start to life at the Etihad Stadium but doesn’t want to stay. Torres has interest from Barcelona and El Nacional say the Spanish international has ‘told his entourage’ that he wants to join them.

Torres joined City from Valencia in the summer of 2020 and has gone on to make 43 appearances across the board, scoring 16 goals with four assists. The versatile forward has spent his second season at the Etihad on the sidelines, however, after fracturing his foot in October.

Torres has made only seven appearances in all competitions this campaign, scoring three goals with one assist. He’s bagged 12 goals in 22 games for Spain and temporarily solved City’s striker crisis. This is why Barcelona are interested and El Nacional say the feeling is mutual.

City hold all the cards as Torres has four years remaining on his contract, but they’re unlikely to keep a player so determined to leave. Barca have debt of over £1bn, however, so they might struggle to match his asking price. Personal terms don’t appear to be an issue though, so they’re halfway there.
