According to the Football Insider, Manchester City have ‘set their sights’ on Jaden Philogene-Bidace and may have to battle Ajax and Bayern Munich for his signature. The 17-year-old has impressed at youth level for Aston Villa and could be on the move this summer as his contract is up in July.
Villa are desperate to keep Philogene-Bidace and want to tie him down to a long-term contract as they see him as one for the future, but the growing interest from clubs in Europe may see the left-winger consider his options.
Should Manchester City sign Jaden Philogene-Bidace?
Philogene-Bidace has scored and created seven goals in 10 U18 Premier League games this season while turning out for the u23s twice in February too. Football Insider say the teenager has developed rapidly and is already training with the first-team this season.
Scouts from Ajax and Bayern have been monitoring his progress at Villa which has alerted the Midlands outfit to lock down his contract – Villa risk losing a rising talent for minimum compensation fee if he’s unattached in July.
With Tommy Doyle (aged 18), Adrian Bernabe (18), Taylor Harwood-Bellis (18), Eric Garcia (19) and Phil Foden (19) picking up a combined 2138 minutes of playing time in all competitions this season, City should be an attractive proposition for young players – let alone having Pep Guardiola to learn from.
