Report: Man City to offer £100m + 5 players for 27 y/o, player wants out, club won’t sell

Manchester City’s pre-season is only weeks away and they’re yet to bring in a replacement for Sergio Aguero, so the Premier League champions are stepping their pursuit of Harry Kane.

The Athletic say City are willing to pay £100m for the 27-year-old and will offer Aymeric Laporte, Bernardo Silva, Raheem Sterling, Riyad Mahrez and Gabriel Jesus as potential makeweights.

Kane has scored 221 goals and made 47 assists in 336 games for Tottenham Hotspur since rising through the youth ranks to the first-team in 2011/12, so he’s more than good enough to shoulder the scoring burden now Aguero has gone.

The England international has 34 goals in 55 caps too, so he’s been consistent domestically and internationally. Unsurprisingly, Tottenham want to keep him and aren’t interested in cashing in unless the offer was too good to turn down.

The Athletic believe that figure is around £150m, but City are hoping one or two players being offered with cash is enough to convince Kane. The 27-year-old has told Tottenham that he wants out this summer and is open to joining City, so a deal will depend on the money being put up.

It’s bad news for Man City as 23 y/o’s asking price ‘could double’ after Euro 2020
