City’s incredible transformation to title contenders was unthinkable 5 years ago this weekend. The Blues had just lost to the rags and hadn’t scored at home in the league for 5 months…

As we gear up for the tremendous challenge on Tyneside that could further boost a tilt at a title that was gone three weeks ago, it’s worth taking a step back and seeing just how far we’ve come. No wonder Stretford is reeling from the speed of the sky blue juggernaut.

5 years ago almost to the day, MCFC was in total disarray and clinging to it’s Premier League status by a thread. One week before the next defeat away at Spurs, Johnny Baguette offloaded…

Apathy reigns. When a Manchester City team, very much the creation of their manager and his pals relentlessly transmit a lack of invention, effort, skill or excitement to their home supporters is it any wonder that so many Blues are raising the white flag and saying enough is enough?

After almost two full seasons of outstanding support the City Board and Pearce’s collectively clueless policies and tactics have now rewarded us with an embarrassing non scoring record at home, nevermind 85 points from 225 and counting.

Beggars belief, beyond belief, turgid, vapid, insipid, spineless, hopeless, clueless. All words repeated continually across the web forums and sports pages throughout this season to describe the painful non performances of this terrible Manchester City side who once again have avoided merited relegation only because there are a few other teams marginally worse than our own stumbling squad.

That Stuart Pearce remains in charge is becoming indescribable. The risk of him being allowed to spend millions of pounds this summer is a frightening prospect. Give him the money the rags and Chelski have had and the safety first – that goes wrong – what next tactics will stay in place. Still, the City Board wait for it all to become somebody else’s problem.

This morning, not only am I questioning his ability to motivate, inspire and direct operations as well as manage the younger players (again, he has only relied so heavily on our Academy as his mercenaries have failed so abysmally) I am also questioning his ability to unite his squad and to maintain discipline both on the pitch and at the training ground. Far too many high profile incidents.

Finally, to not take the game to a rag side humiliated only a couple of days earlier in Milan was criminal. We deserved at least that and we certainly didn’t get it.

City Board, if you are reading this, I hope your big sale comes off and it doesn’t all go the way of Pearce’s top six delusions. Whatever happens, if you and the entire management team remain in place then brace yourselves for greatly reduced attendances next season. That will be your reward for what you have given to us. The ‘Taken for granted’ have had enough.
