I say Micah Richards is ‘advising’ his now Villa teammate Fabian Delph about a move to City but in fairness he’s, well not publically anyway, not said he should or shouldn’t come to the Etihad Stadium in so many words.

What he has done, and understandably, has warned him about the risks of making such a move….but would the rewards outweigh the risks!

There no doubt as good a club as Villa are, and the size of them is huge, City is a step up and Richards feels it’s a move any player would want really as you want to ‘play at the highest level’ winning trophies and playing in the Champions League and so on but would it be a move for him to be a squad player of first-team regular?

He would also have to think about his England place, which could come under threat if he’s not playing as often as he would like pointing to his own case really but more so that of James Milner who turned down the chance to stay in order to sign for Liverpool.

If he had assurances, not that any player should be really assured of this, he would play more often then not then it’s a move he wouldn’t find easy to turn down but our former captain says he wasn’t going to say he should make the move as he didn’t want the blame if he wasn’t playing so he’s leaving, wisely so, the decision to him….

Delph’s a good footballer and would make a good addition to the squad, for various reasons, but I’m not convinced he’ll be a first-team regular in the long-term, not that it’s not a move I couldn’t see happening mind!
