One of the young City players Rhetoric Cantona forgot about last week has underlined the MCFC squad unity ahead of Sunday’s Wembley season curtain raiser…

Micah Richards has told th’official site in no uncertain terms how he feels about City’s second London derby clash this year:

‘We always want to beat them and they always want to beat us so it should be one of the more competitive Community Shield matches. It means something every time the two clubs meet.’

The powerful right back has flourished under Roberto Mancini’s guidance. He has stressed his own commitment to the cause and revealed the togetherness that Mancio has fused into his squad:

‘…There has been a great atmosphere in the camp and we have a lot of confidence going into the season…we are all ready to fight for one another…There is a real family atmosphere about the dressing room. We know we did well last season but we are determined to do even better this time around.’

The 23 year old City veteran with 178 League and Cup starts under his belt knows all about what it means to be a Blue and Patrice Evra had better be ready to contend with some barnstorming overlapping charges from Micah tomorrow:

‘Whenever you are wearing the sky blue shirt and playing against United, whether it is an under fifteens game, an under eighteens game or an FA Cup semi-final, there is a special edge to it.’
