Robinho, away on crucial international duty with Brazil has revealed why he was on the ‘Berti’ for City’s latest away win which came at Pompey last weekend…

His revelation certainly helps to ease any concerns that Mark Hughes now sees Craig Bellamy as his preffered option out left.

The brilliant forward preparing for Brazil’s pivotal World Cup clash with Argentina advised the media:

‘I asked to not play because I had pains in my ankle, especially because Brazil v Argentina is more important. It is always a special match because of the standard and the rivalry of the two teams. No one ever wants to lose. Every player likes to play in these matches.’

Turning his attention back to City, the spritely ball juggler went on:

‘I am very well, the team is good. I think this year Manchester City will push on. The start of the season up to now has been great. We won every game and all is good. The signings were excellent.’

Meanwhile, City’s new signing from Barcelona, the vastly experienced Sylvinho gave the low down on how Robbie is doing to the MUEN:

‘This club can help Robinho a lot. He told me he is really happy. He is enjoying it. He is one of the top players in the world and it is really important to him how the club is moving forward, how it is changing.

‘He is really happy that the club has now got Emmanuel Adebayor and Carlos Tevez, because that helps him a lot. It puts the club on a different level, and it does the same for Robinho.’

Great news for Planet Blue and another one in the eye for those hacks desperate for Robinho to have left City this summer.

Back to the future, however, and both Robbie and Tev are likely to be jet lagged going into our first ‘Big Four’ challenge of the season when The Gooners come to town next week. Both players will be representing their countries 2 days before City’s Premier League campaign resumes.
