He said in an interview with Kicker (h/t Sport Witness): “This is, of course, an absolute honour, there is no need to discuss it. (Pep Guardiola) is a coach that I look to, who can raise you to another level in terms of football.”

Gosens joined Atalanta BC from Heracles Almelo in 2017 and has gone on to make 138 appearances in all competitions, scoring 25 goals and supplying 19 assists (Transfermarkt).

The 26-year-old has been a regular under Gian Piero Gasperini this season, featuring in 33 games across the board and having a hand in 17 goals.

Gosens is a real attacking and creative threat at left-back, hitting the target with 16 of 35 shots and making 25 chances in Serie A, but he’s diligent in his defensive duties too (WhoScored).

The German international has averaged a tackle (35) or interception (33) every 27 minutes while blocking 41 shots/crosses/passes and making 23 clearances.

City have their eye on a number of targets, so it remains to be seen if it’s Gosens they lodge a bid for. Nevertheless, the left-back is keen to come to Manchester if they do.
