Defender Bacary Sagna has said he’s ready to play at centre back this weekend for manager Manuel Pellegrini if asked when we face Crystal Palace.

In quotes carried by the Manchester Evening News, the former Arsenal full back said he’d be more than prepared to do a job in the middle if he was asked given we have doubts about the fitness of Vincent Kompany following his substitution in the victory over Leicester City with a hamstring problem.

Pellegrini said following the game that Kompany could be out until the New Year, and Sagna explained.

‘I have played a few times at centre back for Arsenal. If I have to play I will, and always try to give 100% and my best for the team. But hopefully he will be ready for Crystal Palace.’

The 31 year old French international also added that he was comfortable he could cope in the middle of defence, but he also knows that we have others capable of doing the role such as Dedryck Boyata who he felt played very well in our four one victory over Sunderland at the beginning of December.
