According to a report from TEAMtalk, Scottish champions Celtic have made an approach to re-sign Sky Blues winger Patrick Roberts on a permanent basis for £3 million – resulting in some City fans flocking to Twitter with divided opinions.

Roberts signed for us nearly five years ago back in the summer of 2015 in a deal worth £11 million, with the Englishman largely attained to fill our homegrown requirements as per the Guardian.

Does Patrick Roberts still have a future under Pep Guardiola?

Now, half a decade on, it could be time to finally offload the 23-year-old – with former loan club Celtic allegedly keen on snapping up the winger permanently.

Over the course of Roberts’ entire City career, he has only managed 4 minutes in total of Premier League action – briefly appearing as a substitute during the 2015/2016 season under Manuel Pellegrini.

However, while some fans think it’s a long time coming, with one supporter even jokingly stating he could be a ‘Sane replacement’, others feel bad for Roberts and insist he never really got his chance.

Here’s what they had to say on Twitter.
