Player ‘open to staying’ at Man City, hasn’t ‘fallen out of love’ with club

Sergio Aguero has an uncertain future at Manchester City as he’s out of contract in the coming months, is no longer commanding a starting place and has spoken about leaving the Sky Blues when his deal expires.

The 32-year-old has been honest about the idea of returning to Argentina or Spain after City, but Simon Stone of BBC Sport say he’s ‘open to the idea of staying’ at City and hasn’t ‘fallen out of love’ with the Premier League leaders.

Aguero reportedly has interest from Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona and Inter Milan, but there is a slim chance he could remain at the Etihad Stadium for another season.

There has been a new deal on the table for some time that he’s yet to put pen to paper too, and he might not want this campaign to be his last as a City player.

Stone also notes that Aguero wants to keep breaking records before leaving City and may not want to go out off the back of an injury-hit campaign, but he’s unlikely to be a regular in the starting XI anymore.

The Argentine international returned from injury in mid-February and has been an unused substitute in four of City’s last five league games (Transfermarkt), so the club are clearly coping well in his absence.

They boast 19 consecutive wins in the league too, so will Aguero really see a lot of playing time between now and May? That question is sure to factor in his decision this summer.
