Cue crestfallen anti-City hacks and pundits sobbing at their bars tonight. His Highness Sheikh Mansour, MCFC owner has declared his satisfaction with the club…

Speaking on Abu Dhabi TV, the man who has transformed Manchester football and helped break up the Premier League’s top four monopoly has backed his men to the hilt in their battle to overcome the rags and lift the English title for the first time since 1968:

‘The City versus United derby will be important. I think the gap will close to less than three points. The last two matches of both teams will be decisive in designating the champions.’

The 42 year old City leader went on to praise the work of Roberto Mancini, his backroom staff and his players:

‘The difference is three points and we do have a chance. But whatever happens and even if we don’t win, I am very happy and satisfied with the players, the team and the management…They have performed very well and have improved in their last few matches.’

The timing of these statements and backing like this can only serve to further energise City’s transformation from the hunted to the hunters.
