Ex Thai prime minister, Thaksin Shinawatra, is reported to have completed due diligance of the club and lodged a formal offer to buy Manchester City.

‘What I can say now is we have tendered a bid for the team,’ Thaksin’s lawyer Noppadon Pattama told Reuters in response to speculation in the Far East.

Shinawatra is expected to replace Stuart Pearce with ex Chelsea boss Claudio Ranieri on completion of his takeover of the club.

Whilst still having doubts as to the motives of Shinawatra it seems that he is backing his words with hard cash and hopefully that will be to the benefit of Manchester City Football Club.
