In a move destined to rock the football world, Manchester City are actually going to spend money on buying a player.

Matthew Mills, a 19-year-old defender who has played just 5 games for his club, Southampton, will only cost £300,000 but this could rise to more than £700,000 in add-ons if Mills fulfills his promise.

City coach, Steve Wigley, was thought to be instrumental in signing Mills from his old club.

What next? City chairman, John Wardle (above) to buy a new box of tea bags?
