Around this time last week we all clung onto the words that Mark Hughes uttered when he mentioned the fact that their could be some new faces around the club.

The time has come and he has failed to deliver. I know bids where rejected and that`s not his fault, its down to the board and Gary Cook, but I wouldn`t have minded if bids where rejected for say, Villa, Barry and Buffon, but for Bids in the excess of £10 million plus to be rejected on such players as Bellamy, Parker and Santa Cruz?

I am ambitious and the club should be to! Wasting time and effort for players who can bring in “premiership experience” is all good and dandy when their the likes of Barry, Toure and of course our only signing, Bridge, but am I the only one who doesn`t seem to get why were putting in bids for mediocre players who would only be able to lift the club to about 6th at most. I mean Hughes is all for improving the quality in the side but Bellamy and Parker would only be on par with what we already have! Ok this means we will have suitable cover, but it will never get us fighting for the title. I have been a critic of Mark Hughes, but I do generally want him to bring success to club, because Manchester City are a good solid, professional club who have the best fans as a foothold to boost them further up the table, But I have to question the man`s ambition?

Why bid around £18 million pounds for Santa Cruz? Michael Owen is available even though the Toon boss has stated the opposite. He is not stupid and neither are the board of Newcastle. Why would they risk loosing a player for nothing when they can cash in around £12 million pounds? Manchester City then get a fantastic player who has not been the luckiest, rather than his old pal at Blackburn who`s had one season, and also looks a magnet for injuries?

Who am I to say what Hughes should do? I`m only a loyal and loving fan of a club that only wants what`s best for the club. Hughes is a Manchester United lover, who seems to be out of his depth. I have been getting a big of stick for slating Hughes over and over, but like I keep saying, I`m waiting for him to prove me wrong.

Hughes also seems to blame everybody except himself? I can bet anyone on this site, that if we perform badly against Portsmouth he will hide behind the “we have many first team players out injured” excuse.

Rant over, I look forward to Saturday, COME ON CITY!
