Manuel Pellegrini wasn’t ever likely to walk away from City this summer but the odds on him being show the door seemed quite high for a while…. As things stand we’ll have him in charge for at least one more season and that pleases David Silva.

Silva, lets face it, would play well under anyone but he’s certainly enjoyed life under Pellegrini with him telling Sky Sports News how pleased he was to see him staying on at the Etihad Stadium.

‘It is good that we are keeping our coach.

‘He is a coach who really wants to attack and fight for the title. That is really good, and that is what we want to see.

‘Every year it is very difficult, there are very good teams, the conditions are hard and every game is a high level, so we just have to do our best.’

We didn’t enjoy our ‘best’ of seasons last time round but let’s face it this was hardly the complete disaster that some would have you think it was by any means was it….

Given a greater chance to utilise the transfer market this summer, and we will do this paying the right money for the right players, we’ll push man a club all the way both at home and abroad.

The Chelsea game on the second weekend of the Premier League season, which gives us the chance to lay down a marker, is one I can’t wait for although we’ll have West Brom first up!
