According to Telefoot journalist Julien Maynard via le10sport, Man City have made ‘contact’ with Lyon over star midfielder Houssem Aouar as the Sky Blues plot to find a worthy heir to club legend David Silva – prompting a mixed response from supporters on social media.

Aouar, who has become a mainstay for the Ligue 1 outfit this season, starting 23 league games whilst bagging three goals and four assists, is now on City boss Pep Guardiola’s radar as a potential replacement for the departing Silva.

Who is the more suited Silva successor?

The Frenchman, at least on paper, could prove to be a viable stand-in for the Etihad icon – especially going by his 85.7% pass success rate courtesy of WhoScored.

Compared to Silva, the 21-year-old has averaged more shots per game but fails to match his record of key passes – indicating that there are both positives and negatives to a potential swoop.

Flocking to Twitter, here’s what City supporters had to say regarding the alleged interest.
