As previously mentioned I burned a few cd’s to travel down to Wembley( We won 1-0 in case you haven’t heard!), last night when travelling home from the Stoke game, this song came on my cd- and through blurred vision from tears, I understood why I had included in the first place.

We will appreciate our glory because of where we have been, what we have been, what we have seen and what we have been forced to suffer. Please read the lyrics below, then listen to the song- it could almost be written for us.

Carly Simon- Let The River Run

We’re coming to the edge,
running on the water,
coming through the fog,
your sons and daughters.

Let the river run,
let all the dreamers
wake the nation.
Come, the New Jerusalem.

Silver cities rise,
the morning lights
the streets that meet them,
and sirens call them on
with a song.

It’s asking for the taking.
Trembling, shaking.
Oh, my heart is aching.

We’re coming to the edge,
running on the water,
coming through the fog,
your sons and daughters.

We the great and small
stand on a star.
