The funniest story of the week must be in Friday’s edition of The Sun. Their journalist IAN McGARRY has written a piece whereby it is alleged City boss Mark Hughes has been approached by Tottenham officials about replacing their ailing manager, Juande Ramos.

The Sun quote…

TOTTENHAM have sounded out Mark Hughes about replacing Juande Ramos as boss.

Spurs officials contacted Sparky’s advisors yesterday to offer him the job hours before Manchester City`s UEFA Cup tie with Omonia Nicosia.

They slapped a £20million, five-year deal on the table and would love the Eastlands chief to take over during next week’s international break.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy decided to act after concluding Spaniard Ramos is now a lame-duck manager.

The only piece that could be considered believable about the above quote is when the author of the article writes…Ramos is now a lame-duck manager.

Why on earth would Hughes want to leave Manchester City, a club destined to be one, if not the biggest club on the planet?

The way Tottenham are playing, there is every chance they’ll be playing in next seasons Championship. Would Sparky want to lower himself to such a fete? Of course not.

The Sun’s article may have made back page headlines, but the only thing the tabloid has done in my household and that is made the nearest bin.
