Report: Club close in on Man City player who helped win first league title since 2002

|

Manchester City are looking to cash in on a number of players to help fund moves for Jack Grealish and Harry Kane, says the Daily Mail. Jack Harrison is expected to make the permanent switch to Leeds United this summer and Pedro Porro could be on his way to Sporting.

The 21-year-old joined Sporting on a season-long loan in August 2020 and has gone on to make 37 appearances in all competitions, scoring four goals with two assists. Porro has been a regular at the José Alvalade Stadium and helped Sporting win their first Primeira Liga title since 2002, so he’s a wanted man.

Portuguese news outlet A Bola (h/t SI) said earlier in June that Sporting can sign the Spanish international for €8.5m (£7.3m) this summer, so he’s expected to make the switch. It’s not a lot of money for City to add to their kitty, but every penny counts.

Harrison and Porro’s departure will bring in £20m total and there are more players expected to be on the chopping block this summer, so City are chipping away at the total. And when they feel they have enough money to sign their number one targets, bids could follow.
