Tottenham did Manchester City a massive favour yesterday by only managing to scrape a 2-2 draw against a battling West Brom side.

Peter Odemwingie put the Baggies ahead before Roman Pavlyuchenko and Jermain Defoe hit back for Spurs. But substitute Simon Cox smashed in a superb leveller meaning the spoils were shared.

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp said after the game…

“We’re obviously disappointed because we thought we were in good shape 2-1 up, but Simon Cox has scored a world-class goal to equalise.”

“It’s difficult winning games in this league and West Brom are a good side.”

“We moved the ball about well but we’ve got no divine right to win games. We’ll try and make the top four and if we don’t we’ll try again next year.”

City are now a point ahead of Spurs with a game in hand. The Blues face Blackburn at Ewood Park on Monday night.
