Manchester City travel to face Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday afternoon and are favourites to pick up all three points due to their superior form in recent weeks.
Pep Guardiola’s men can ill-afford a slip-up as they need to catch Arsenal in the Premier League table, but Antonio Conte’s side are desperate for some consistency to push for a top-four finish.
Tottenham are fifth in the league with 36 points from 21 games, having lost two of their last three outings. The Lilywhites have home advantage, but they’ve suffered four defeats in their last five games at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, so they’re not in great shape of late.
As for City, the Sky Blues are second with 45 points from 20 games, coming off the back of three wins from their last four. Guardiola’s side are the travelling side but boast three wins from their previous four on the road, so they will fancy their chances of getting one over Spurs.
In head-to-heads, results have been mixed down the years. City enjoyed victory in their last meeting with Tottenham after coming from 2-0 down to win 4-2 (January 19), but they had lost their previous two clashes before that.
It’s also worth noting that Spurs have won their last four home games with City, losing only two of their previous eight in London, so it might be a close game.
But with City strong on the road while Tottenham are struggling at home, the visitors will be expected to get a result.
