Manager Manuel Pellegrini has confirmed that new summer signing Raheem Sterling will make his debut for Manchester City following his arrival from Liverpool in the International Champions cup match against Roma on Tuesday.

The England winger trained with the boys at the AAMI Park ahead of the game and Pellegrini told the Official Site that he fully expected our £49million signing to start in the game.

With our other internationals now back in contention and under going pre season of their own following a slightly longer break, Joe Hart, David Silva, Aleksandar Kolarov, Stevan Jovetic, Eliaquim Mangala, Bacary Sagna and Edin Dzeko could all also feature at some point across the 90 minutes.

‘They arrived late, because they were with internationals, just worked five days with us, but I think most will be involved, maybe not the whole game but some minutes. I think Raheem worked with Liverpool for three days and so he will play some minutes.’

Pellegrini was asked if he’d learned anything new about our new signing since he arrived at the camp, and Pellegrini largely dodged the question repeating that it was now important for him to get some minutes with the team so he could settle in and get to know everybody properly.

We also had two more faces with us in recent times, fellow signings Fabian Delph and Patrick Roberts but they didn’t take part in the open training session just yet and the gaffer wouldn’t be drawn on whether that was the end of our business this summer.

‘I don’t talk about rumours or names, we have really the players that we want, you will know in that moment. For the moment we just have Sterling, Delph and Patrick Roberts, we’ll see in the future if more players will arrive but I can’t talk with you about names.’

Youngster Kelechi Iheanacho could also play some part against Roma as he has shaken off the hamstring strain that he picked up.
