Stockport County On The Verge

Stockport County FC are a world away from the plush Premier League, but in distance they are just a mere stones throw away from Manchester.

Only this week Stockport joined Southampton by entering into the cruel world of administration, and just because they find it hard to keep the wolves away from their door, the FA dock them 10 points.

I have written articles on the very subject reference wealth, or lack of it in the lower tier of the football league before, but does anyone care about the very existence of our beloved English football?

Last year Rotherham, Luton, Bournemouth…the list goes on, were deducted points, and how they survived (apart from Luton – conference next season fella’s, sorry) god only knows.

Stockport and the like have to survive, either that or we follow the likes of many Scottish clubs and go part-time. Yuk, what a thought!

This article will no doubt fall on deaf ears, but at least I can say I brought the very subject to the attention of a few.

This is what Vital Stockport County wrote on the subject of administration?

‘County have finally stopped delaying the inevitable and entered administration, having been placed into it by David Farms, Aylesbury.’

‘David Farms placed the club into admin this morning after not receiving their loan of £300k back from the club, despite the Trust Board securing a deal this morning to pay off the debt to David Farms.’

‘A mass clearout of players and staff now looks likely.’

‘The Administrators handed control of the club will be John Titley and Paul Reeves, directors at the Manchester office of accountancy firm Leonard Curtis.’

‘Some (slightly) good news an a terrible day for the club is that the Football League have announced that the 10 point deduction will be handed this season and not next season. County, after the 4-3 win over Crewe last week, are now luckily safe from the drop to League Two, although we will be hit with another deduction next season if we fail to exit administration.’

Please show your appreciation and good will messages via their site forums.
